The reflection of Metal, the glimmer of Light

Since her childhood, Marine Breynaert had ball bearings and gears in her toy chest, thanks to her grandfather who ran an industrial motor repair factory. It's in this mechanical universe, where metal reigned, that Marine discovered her calling. She retains from this period a taste for massive pieces that weigh heavily in the hand.
The regular visits to Drouot with her mother sparked a taste for jewelry in her, with a penchant for the Art Deco period.

Her art studies at the Sorbonne and the École Nationale des Arts Décoratifs (ENSAD) broadened her practice to textiles, screen printing, sculpture, drawing, painting, and photography.

But for her, nothing equals the brilliance of metal.

Marine's workshop, a true haven of creativity, is a place where metal comes to life and where light becomes a full-fledged artistic medium. 

Marine also creates a subtle interplay between her luminaires and the flame's light, which she interprets in candlesticks and torches. Lighting at Marine Breynaert is never blinding, it's a vibrant glow, a flicker, close to the flame. She has no difficulty placing several of her lamps side by side, like a set of candles. The metallic lace lampshades have an intimate, subtle, and lively presence. Every project begins with the luminous sensation it will offer. Among Marine Breynaert's inspirations, there's Rembrandt's chiaroscuro, Vermeer's elusive light, and the clarity of northern painters.

Metal is her trademark. Hammered, brushed, thermo-lacquered, patinated, polished. To this are added other materials: glass, marble, alabaster, oxidized wood. Marine Breynaert is an expert in luminous sensation; for her, light is a medium in its own right, a sensitive counterpoint to metal's brilliance that makes her creations vibrant. Her Insectes collection, using materials like porcupine quills, explores the fusion between art and nature.

Her creations are now exhibited in prestigious galleries and are part of the Mobilier National collections. The Galerie Dumonteil at 38, rue de l'Université, 75007 Paris presents her latest creations from the "Insectes" collection, true jewels of light.
