Summer embroideries and designer addresses: a Haute Couture summer in Saint-Germain des Prés

, Published on

From our elegant house, nestled in the heart of Saint-Germain-des-Prés, Paris opens its dream workshops, its bright backstage, and its secret addresses for an unforgettable journey into the world of fashion.

When Roland-Garros closes its curtain, the capital makes way for Fashion Week and Haute Couture (from July 7 to 10, 2025), where Dior, Chanel, Jean Paul Gaultier, and Valentino make stars and lace dance. The alleys of Saint-Germain don silk, windows become showcases, and conversations whisper designers' secrets.

From Hôtel de Lille, start your journey at the Petit Palais, which presents the exhibition “Worth. Inventing Haute Couture”. A true pioneer, Charles Frederick Worth was more than just a couturier: he was the first to imagine fashion as a complete spectacle, an art in itself. In this sumptuous setting of columns and mosaics, over 400 works — dresses, accessories, jewelry, drawings, posters — reveal his genius. Discover his majestic dresses, adorned with precious embroidery and delicate pearls, his drapes inspired by ancient togas, and his revolutionary silhouettes that, from the Second Empire, established Paris as the capital of fashion. Each room immerses you in a world of velvet and lace, imagining the balls of Empress Eugénie and the lavish dinners of the Roaring Twenties. A journey to the heart of luxury, boldness, and refinement.

Then head to the Palais Galliera, where Rick Owens invites you to his “Temple of Love”. In this couture sanctuary, fashion becomes a manifesto: black silhouettes with architectural lines, rebellious volumes, and diverted materials create a universe that is both gothic and celestial. More than 100 emblematic silhouettes, the creator's personal archives, videos and unprecedented installations, as well as works by Gustave Moreau, Joseph Beuys, and Steven Parrino, compose this exhibition. Each dress is a manifesto of freedom, each seam an ode to difference. The journey begins from the museum's facade and gardens, transformed into an inspirational clearing where the creator's works converse with the park's statues.

Finally, push the doors of the Musée des Arts Décoratifs, where the exhibition dedicated to Paul Poiret opens the doors to a festive and flamboyant Paris. His liberating creations, abolishing corset constraints, give way to fluid drapes, vibrant colors, and a fashion that breathes freedom. Scents of the Orient, sumptuous parties, artistic collaborations with Raoul Dufy, and the avant-garde of the Ballets Russes create a universe where fashion becomes an art of living, a perpetual celebration.

But Paris is also an open-air art of living. After each exhibition, treat yourself to a cocktail or dinner in our insiders' and gourmets' path.

Just steps from the hotel, Maison Cravan welcomes you in an arty atmosphere for a creative cocktail in one of its three bars nestled in a historic 17th-century hotel in Saint-Germain des Prés.

Dine under the stars at La Société, Place Saint-Germain des Prés, where the Parisian art of living takes center stage every night.

Don't miss the creators' favorite addresses: an elegant lunch at La Petite Chaise, the oldest inn in Paris, a refined dinner at the Café des Ministères, near Les Invalides, a haunt for artists and fashion enthusiasts; or a drink at the Gainsbarre, a cocktail bar paying tribute to the neighborhood's most famous poet.

And to prolong the magic, Hôtel de Lille offers you its couture picnic: sweet delights, delicate finger food, and sparkling champagne, to savor Paris at the Jardin du Luxembourg or along the Seine banks.

At Hôtel de Lille, each stay is a silk thread woven in the light of Paris. Book your summer and experience haute couture as an art of living.
